There are several classes we help facilitate inside the Middleton Unit. Some of these classes are available for both male and female volunteers, and some will be men volunteers only. Anytime a female volunteer is facilitating a class, she will be accompanied by a male volunteer.  Since most of these classes are 12-15 weeks long and weekly, we like to find enough volunteers for each class so each volunteer is only committed to come once per month, but is welcome to come every week for the class if they wish.

The Bridges to Life Class has a special training module that you must attend to qualify to facilitate, and each facilitator must commit to come every week for 15 weeks.

If you are interested in learning more about getting involved in facilitating or to find out more about the class schedules, please contact us and we can fill you in.

Middleton Unit

In 2024, we launched 12 weeks of Groundwork material into the Middleton Unit. In 2025 we ran the12 week Groundwork material again, this time with the Faith Based Dorm (FBD). We are the first Team to be able to bring the re:generation program into a maximum-security prison in the entire US!

Beginning September 27, 2025, we will be launching the re:generation program in its entirety to the newly rotated FBD. This will be a 42-week project and will take a minimum of 12 male volunteers to pull this off. A lot of these volunteers are men who have come through the Re:generation program at Steps Recovery Center and have decided to get the proper training to take it inside the prison walls. We are confident that this will change the atmosphere inside TDCJ. This will be an on-going class that will restart every year (when the FBD rotates) in September. If you have never been through the Re:generation program but would like to, this is a great opportunity for you to come in and co-lead with one of the qualified facilitators. You will co-lead and participate. Very unique opportunity! You can sign up now to get on the next team either as a facilitator or a co-leader by contacting us here at Steps Recovery Center.
